About the Writer

Alex was born in early August 2014. I have been able to be a full time mother, and my husband works close to home (after being home for Alex's first year). Alex and I participate in several classes and parenting groups throughout the week.  We have very supportive family members that are active in Alex's life as well. We live in a condo in Tustin with our rescued dog Ari.

As a disclaimer: I don't profess to be an expert, just someone sharing my experiences and thoughts. My degree is in history, not psychology, child development, or biology, and my professional background is in marketing and archival work. I have experience as a para-educator but not a credentialed teacher. I try to research topics that are of interest to me for my son's development, but I don't guarantee that the things I post on this site will always be absolutely correct as they are filtered through the lens of my own perspective.

Information on this blog will come from a variety of sources. For example, years ago, I took some college courses in child development and children's literature, as well as studying educational theories throughout historical eras. Currently, I regularly attend classes such as "Toddler Topics" and "Baby Massage Techniques" through a local hospital affiliate. Alex has graduated from "Mommy Matters" now along with "Mommy & Baby Yoga". We also have a swimming class and other assorted activities. I may reference studies about which I've spoken to other mothers, but I may not be able to provide links to those studies easily. If I bring up a medical topic, I will try to do so only if I have already spoken to my son's pediatrician regarding my research or if I can provide exact citations.

I'm not perfect. If I make an error, please be understanding of my lack of omniscience. If you have a conflicting opinion, please feel free to share it with me. The point of this blog is to share my experiences, something I've enjoyed doing with other mothers in play groups, as well as learn about the experiences of others. It's useful to know that you aren't alone in what you're facing.
